In conversation with Dominic Peter

February 2023: The CEO of emineo Products talks about everyday challenges in his department.

How long have you been with emineo?
I started in the summer of 2019. Before that, I worked in the insurance industry for over 15 years, which makes me an account manager for this sector. I studied part-time at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and the “École Supérieure de Commerce et de Management”, where I first completed a Bachelor’s and then a Master’s degree in Business and Behavioral Economics.

What do you like about your job?
My job is extremely multifaceted.
I like supporting customers from the beginning to the realization – from the sales process and project management to operation and further development. Good industry knowledge ensures that needs are quickly identified, an appropriate solution is found and then implemented.
Personally, I value the discussions and exchanges with our customers, with the experts in the product teams and in the management team. Considering the different perspectives is both exciting and challenging.

What does your department do?
We support customers with technological expertise specifically tailored to their industry. Using integrated, flexible specialist applications and targeted automation, we make the best possible use of optimization potential. Due to increasing complexity, the need for application management is growing, which is why we are constantly developing our range of products and services.

What is the strength of emineo’s products?
The solutions fit perfectly into the existing system landscape and organization. This not only results in audit-proof and user-friendly applications, but synergies can also be created during operation. Ultimately, everything contributes to a sustainable and future-oriented solution.

What upcoming challenges do you see in your department?
The product business is growing, whereby we want to maintain and further expand our customer proximity and focus. This is because interesting models such as “co-production” will become increasingly important in the future.

At the same time, the framework conditions in the area of technology are changing. SAP S/4HANA and the expansion of the Java technology stack are shaping our company’s product development and blueprint.

What makes emineo an attractive employer?
The working environment exudes a very special spirit and I spend my day with talented and committed people. It’s fun to work together to develop solutions that are used and appreciated by our customers every day. The open error culture is also worth mentioning. As an organization, we want to learn from mistakes and constantly improve. We keep things that help us move forward – others are dropped.

Our claim is “this is how digital works” – what is your personal approach to digitalization?
Whenever possible, I also use online services privately via my smartphone or smartwatch. Of course, this also brings with it a certain dependency. I notice this particularly when there is no digital tool available. That’s why I occasionally have to queue for everyday situations, for example when I don’t have enough coins for the shopping cart. But here, too, the internet has a solution with “live hacks” from TikTok – a two-franc coin in my pocket probably wouldn’t hurt anyway.

What do you want for the future?
emineo is not a traditional software supplier, but a reliable partner at the side of its customers. I want to shape this perception together with the whole team in order to take our product and service portfolio to the next level for and together with our customers.
