A conversation with Dominic Peter

February 2023: The CEO of emineo Products talks about everyday challenges in his department.

How long have you been with emineo?
I started in the summer of 2019. Before that I worked in the insurance industry for over 15 years, which makes me stand out as an account manager for this area. While working, I first completed a bachelor’s and then a master’s degree in business and behavioral economics at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and at the “École Supérieure de Commerce et de Management”.

What do you like about your job?
My job is extremely multifaceted.
I like to accompany the customers from the beginning to the realization – from the sales process and project management to operation and further development. Good industry knowledge ensures that needs are recognized quickly, an adequate solution is found and then implemented.
Personally, I appreciate the discussions and the exchange with our customers, with the experts in the product teams and in the management team. Taking the different perspectives into account is exciting and challenging at the same time.

What is your department doing?
We support customers with technological expertise specific to their industry. Using integrated, flexible specialist applications and targeted automation, we make the best possible use of the optimization potential. Due to the increasing complexity, the need for “Application Management” is increasing, which is why we are constantly developing our range of services and products.

What is the strength of emineo products?
The solutions fit perfectly into the existing system landscape and organization. This not only creates audit-proof and user-friendly applications, but also synergies can be created during operation. Ultimately, everything contributes to a sustainable and future-oriented solution.

What upcoming challenges do you see in your department?
The product business is growing, whereby we want to maintain and further expand our customer proximity and focus. Because, in the future, interesting models such as “co-production” will gain in importance. At the same time, the framework conditions in the field of technology are changing. SAP S/4HANA and the expansion of the Java technology stack characterize the product development and the blueprint of our company.

What makes emineo attractive as an employer?
The working environment exudes a very special spirit and I spend my everyday life with talented and committed people. It is fun to work out solutions together that are used and valued by our customers on a daily basis. The open error culture is also worth mentioning. As an organization, we want to learn from mistakes and constantly improve. We keep things that bring us further – others are dropped.

Our claim is “deeply digital_” – what about you personally when it comes to digitization?
Whenever possible, I also use online services privately via my smartphone or smartwatch. Of course, this also entails a certain dependency. I notice that especially when no digital tool is available. Every now and then I have to stand in line for everyday situations, for example when I don’t have the coin for the shopping trolley. But here, too, the Internet has a solution with “live hacks” from TikTok – a two-franc coin in the sack probably wouldn’t hurt anyway.

What do you wish for the future?
emineo is not a classic software supplier, but a reliable partner at the side of its customers. I want to shape this perception together with the whole team in order to bring our product and service portfolio to the next level for and together with our customers.
