emineo overcomes the challenges of the pandemic year 2020

April 2021: We are optimistic about the future. A look back, highlights and investments in the future.

Posting a sales growth of six per cent, emineo AG can look back to an exceptional year with satisfaction. The Swiss IT consulting and SAP specialist did not meet the set annual targets, but this growth shows a high level of resilience even in turbulent times. In this exceptional year, the ever-growing emineo team once more successfully implemented demanding customer projects completely “remotely” in line with the usual high quality standards. The Executive Board would like to particularly thank all employees for their valuable contribution. In regard to its long-term targets, the company remains fully on course.

Despite challenging conditions, emineo AG closed the pandemic and crisis year 2020 with satisfactory results. In the first half of the year, turnover grew hardly in the double digit range. However, this growth flattened out in the second half of the year with the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic and the corresponding market uncertainty. Overall, emineo generated a total turnover of CHF 32.6 million in the 2020 financial year, which corresponds to a growth of six per cent over the previous year. In addition, 20 new IT experts joined the emineo team in 2020, thus accounting for a headcount of 144 by the end of the year. The Executive Board is satisfied with this expansion considering the market circumstances. In addition, emineo used last year to make extensive investments in the further development of its staff as well as the entire organisation in order to position itself even better for the future.

“Our growth in this unusual year shows, on the one hand, that we are well positioned with our corporate strategy and our product and competence portfolio. On the other, as an agile organisation with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and a business continuity concept, we were able to quickly and very effectively manage the changing framework conditions, thus stabilising our business. In addition to the hard facts, this was our greatest achievement. A big thank you, therefore, goes to our dedicated team, which has supported these changes in such a positive and flexible manner and have been giving their best every day for the success of our customers,” Aleardo Chiabotti, CEO emineo AG, summarising this year.

Our 2020 highlights: Large projects via home office and new (cloud) products

emineo is developing the custom software solution “BVTax” for the Swiss Tax Conference, which will replace the old “WVK” application on 1 January 2022. The software solution enables the cantons and the Federal Tax Administration to evaluate unlisted securities and to exchange investment securities data relevant to the evaluation. With around 700,000 unlisted companies, 2.1 million securities and 300,000 valuations annually, “BVTax” plays an important role in the Swiss tax landscape.

The extensive SAP S/4HANA Conversion at the utility company Energie Wasser Bern (ewb) was carried out by the experts at the SAP Gold Partner emineo remotely from home within just eight months. With an impressive result: the new system went live smoothly, exactly on schedule and well under budget.

The emineo product portfolio also includes some leading specialist applications in their field, such as the comprehensive debt collection solution “asem Inkasso.” The end-user portal “MyInkasso” has been expanded as a cloud solution since last year and is undergoing a renewal of the user experience. The new competences in the areas of advanced analytics and user experience, which have been built up since 2019, have been perfectly integrated into the existing portfolio. Both areas showed a very promising trend in 2020, which is why emineo will continue to develop them.

Investing in the future: staff and organisational development also in 2021

emineo also used the insights gained from the new circumstances of the pandemic year for its own development and to make comprehensive investments in the future viability of the organisation. Among other things, this involved the optimisation of processes and the advancement of the company’s own digitisation. It is for a good reason that emineo has “gone digital.” Employees were also intensively trained despite coronavirus pandemic and working from home: with the help of videos and online training, an effective virtual way of working was quickly launched. Every employee completed at least one workshop training in 2020; emineo conducted a total of 200 workshops and training courses.

As a forward-looking and sustainable organisation, internal development will continue throughout 2021. In the current year, emineo is planning to redesign its own organisational structure. The objective: a flexible, customer-oriented organisation where expertise is further developed in dedicated centres of excellence. Independent of classic breakdown by team or division, this new structure will make it possible to assemble the best specialists for each project or technological challenge, and to scale them as needed.

“We have not only survived this crisis, we have made good use of it and we will benefit from the experience gained in the future,” says CEO Aleardo Chiabotti, summing up the COVID-19 year 2020.
